Hurun India Rich List 2024’s Most Inspiring Individuals: Check Bollywood Superstar’s Stunning Wealth

Hurun India Rich List

According to the Hurun India Rich List 2024, the nation has become the new wealth generator in Asia, producing up to 334 billionaires, with a new billionaire being created every sixth day in 2023.

Along with Shah Rukh Khan, a Hindi film actor, who made the list with a value of Rs 7,300 crore, Mukesh Ambani lost his title as the richest Indian to Gautam Adani, a Gujarati.

With the discovery of 1,539 individuals with wealth of at least Rs 1,000 crore on the Hurun rich list, the entire list now has 272 additional entries. The number of billionaires in the nation has increased to 334 from the previous year, a 29 percent increase.

Hyderabad has climbed up to the third position on the list with 17 new entrants, surpassing Bengaluru; the top two spots are claimed by Mumbai and New Delhi.

On the Hurun India Rich List 2024, the youngest billionaires

At 33 years old, Razorpay founders Harshil Mathur and Shashank Kumar are the youngest billionaires on the list. Kaivalya Vohra, age 21, of Zepto is the youngest newcomer to the list, followed by co-founder Aadit Palicha, age 22. Eleven individuals born in the 1990s are on the 2024 list.

Because of his ownership in the Indian Premier League side Kolkata Knight Riders and the production business Red Chillies Entertainment, Shah Rukh Khan, at the age of 58, currently holds a worth of Rs 7,300 crore, placing him on the rich list.

Anas Rahman Junaid, the main researcher and founder of Hurun India, stated that the nation is becoming Asia’s engine for wealth development.

“While China saw a 25 per cent decline in the number of billionaires, India saw a 29 per cent increase, reaching 334 billionaires,” he stated.

Adani and his family had a 95% gain in wealth, raising their total to Rs 1,161,800 crore, and as a result they led the 2024 rich list.

This was understandable given that his wealth had been reduced by more than 80% following a series of accusations made against his company by the New York-based short-seller firm Hindenburg, including share price manipulation and insider trading. The stock of the ten listed group companies lost up to 80% of their pre-allegations worth, according to a report released in late January 2023.

Despite the difficulties that followed the report, Adani has added Rs 1,021,600 crore, the most of any company in the top ten in terms of wealth growth over the last five years. The past year has seen a notable increase in the share prices of all Adani group entities.

Adani Energy, Adani Gas, Adani Transmission, and Adani Power saw an average increase in share price of 76% following the Hindenburg report, whilst Adani Ports saw a 98% increase.

With his wealth of Rs 1,014,700 crore, which was still 25% greater than his 2022 worth, Mukesh Ambani, who had been at the top of the list for years, lost the title by the narrowest of margins to take second place. This was due to the Adanis’ ascent to prominence.

Third place goes to the HCL Technologies family and Shiv Nadar, with their wealth of Rs 3,14,000 crore (up 37% year over year). Cyrus S. Poonawalla and his family, who manufacture vaccines, come in fourth place with their wealth of Rs 280,890 crore (up 4% year over year) and Sun Pharmaceutical’s Dilip Shanghvi, who makes drugs, comes in fifth place with his wealth of Rs 2,49,900 crore (up 59% year over year).

Kumar Mangalam Birla comes in sixth place with Rs 2,35,200 crore, up three spots and 87% more fortune for himself and his family. Gopichand Hinduja & family comes in seventh place with Rs 1,92,700 crore, down three spots and only 9% more wealth than the previous year.

Radhakishan Damani and family come in at number eight with wealth of Rs 1,90,900 crore, up 33% year over year. Next in line are Azim Premji and family, with wealth of Rs 1,90,700 crore, up 24% year over year, and Niraj Bajaj and family, with wealth of Rs 1,62,800 crore, up 35% year over year, at number ten.

Six families have topped the list every year for the last five years: the Adanis, the Ambanis, Shiv Nadar, the Poonawallas, Gopichand Hinduja & family, and Radhakishan Damani & family.
